About the Artist

Hyra (Goldberg) George was born in the Bronx NY in and raised in Valley Stream Long Island.  She graduated SUNY New Paltz with a BFA in Scenography  and moved to California with her husband, David George in 1987.

Together they created George & Goldberg Design Associates, a scenic design and fabrication firm for the live entertainment industry. Over a span of 18 years they designed and built scenery for talent including Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, Rolling Stones, Bette Midler and U2, as well as for the Olympics and the Super Bowl half-time shows. Together they also produced numerous exhibits, and permanent installations for much of the international auto show circuit, Disney, The Getty Center, Sony and Mattel.

In 2007 they sold G&G to focus their creative energy on their design & theatrical producing firm, Millrock Company www.Millrock.biz as well as their own creative ventures including producing the national tour of I Love Lucy® Live on Stage,  www.ILoveLucyLive.com. They live in Long Beach CA with their two daughters.

Inspired by an art exhibit in the Midwest, Hyra began “weaving” baskets and sculptures from garden hoses in early 2011 and continues to experiment with other “tubular” materials including  stainless steel water lines, soaker hoses, wire cable and ropes.
